Indigenous Plants and Timeline of San Gabriel

The intricately detailed reliefs was designed to enhance a mixed-use building with stylistic references to the Spanish Mission style in accordance with the Valley Boulevard Specific Plan and installed in the City of San Gabriel in the summer of 2022.
The artwork is facing a neo-classic pergola, which is also considered a part of the architectural ensemble highlighting a public art component. The space within the pergola serves as a pathway to the artwork – an art wall that features a series of 28”x22” botanical and a 160”x12” panoramic landscape relief sculpture tiles, connected to each other through a large arch symbolizing the interconnectivity of our environment and the people who live in it.
